Chapel Parket is truly a CSR-product (Corporate Social Responsibility) at the highest level. We examine our in-house options, we have our own energy power plant, and our plans for the future are entirely focussed on sustainability. You will discover this kind of commitment in our parquet. A parquet floor for a lifetime
We guarantee the top quality of the products that we supply. After all, the client pays a slightly higher price for these products. But… you get a lot in return. You will have a Houtindustrie Schijndel oak floor for the rest of your life and that’s also sustainability.

Company culture focussed on sustainability
Sustainability is implemented step-by-step in the organization. By now sustainable thinking also characterizes our company culture because we work on that constantly. And we’re proud of it. We like to let clients and visitors experience our exceptional story by taking them on a tour through our various departments.

Bio-Energy Power Plant Schijndel
Since 1997, Houtindustrie Schijndel has achieved energy self-sufficiency by establishing the ‘Schijndel bio-energy power plant’. The operation is simple. We divide the wood residue (sawdust) from the mechanical wood processing into two groups:
- Brown sawdust, cut-down shortening rests and wooden packaging
- White sawdust for animal care products
We burn the residues of the first group to generate power and therefore, we don’t throw anything away. We call that a sustainable production cycle. This goes further than our PEFC and FSC certificates. In this area we are unique in the Netherlands.

Green power for 3000 households
The generated energy covers our complete heat and electricity needs. The surplus electricity is supplied to the grid. This is approx. 1,300 kWh: sufficient to supply Green Power to more than 3000 households.

No wasting
We think that wasting is a sin. That’s why we offer a complete production process under one roof. For example, we set up our own grinding shop to make models. In addition, we get 3 – 4 times as much square metres from 1 m3 wood, because the composite floorboards in the Chapel Parket and Avance Floor assortments have a top layer of 4 – 6 mm.
Jordi de Jongh, deputy-director: “All residue products such as coffee filters, tea bags, paper steel, wrapping ties and synthetic materials are separated and transported by our company by combining this with delivery trips to our clients.”

Future
Investing and innovating in sustainability is a continuous process. For example, we are looking into the possibility of installing solar panels on the enormous roofs of our warehouses and we have taken an interest in sawmills abroad so that we can also create more awareness there. A lot can be achieved with determination, innovation and creativity. We are the living proof of that.
